Greetings from Phish tour.
God DAMMIT are they back. They sound greater than 90% of post hiatus, Trey is ON POINT and is loving every minute up there. The scene seems cleaner, smiles abound, and the sense of community is stronger than ever. Green Crew rules. We got walked in the last 3 nights in Jones Beach and had a private section on the floor with more dance space than I ever thought possible on the floor. Basically a private dock right on the water. When tide moved in and we had to retreat, the lyrics of SPlit Open and Melt were more than poignant. While literally dancing below the water line, a few feet from seaweed (among the seaweed and the slime), G Crew definetely believed that Melt was for us.
The new songs are a trip... A lot of the lyrics are obviously about Trey's demons. With lines like, "Learned my lesson for the last time, still remember the first time.... this time will be different." It's clear Trey is taking his very seriously and we couldn't be happier. There's also a new verse for Backwards Down the Number Line and i think it's a reference to the phans.l
